2025 U-20 AFCON: South Africa coach on how we defeated Flying Eagles

South Africa U-20 head coach, Raymond Mdaka, has revealed the reason behind his team’s victory over the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.

The Amajita booked a spot in the final of the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations following a hard-earned 1-0 victory over the seven-time champions.

Tylon Smith’s 66th minute strike separated both teams on the day.

Mdaka commended his players for sticking to the tactical plan for the match.

“Indeed, another victory—kudos to the guys. They performed excellently, demonstrated impressive character, kept their discipline, and adhered to the tactical and technical plan we had agreed upon. Mdaka expressed at a press conference, “We greatly value their effort.”

“Although the game was tough, our boys are maturing with each match—enhancing their character and bettering themselves in every regard. Thank you, great job to the boys, and great job to the country.

The final will see South Africa up against Morocco at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
