Football: FCT wallop Borno 4-1 in opening match

On Monday, the male football team from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) delivered a strong message to other competitors at the Ikenne centre by defeating the Borno male football team 4-1.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that during the ongoing 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) in Ogun, the game took place on Remo Stars’ training pitch in Ikenne

Speaking with newsmen after the match, Assistant Coach of the FCT, Coach Mary Benny, told journalists that the result has put the team in a good position.

“We emphasised the importance of starting on a good note and the players stuck to the game plans

“We should have secured a bigger victory, but since it’s the first game, we’ll review our mistakes and improve before Tuesday’s next match,” she said.

The team’s captain, Achu Gabriel, praised his fellow players for their performance and stated that the team would keep its focus on reclaiming the trophy they last won in 2018.

On Tuesday at 8 a.m., the FCT will face Osun in their second group match at the same location.
