The Kebbi State House of Assembly Committee on Justice and Judiciary conducted a public hearing regarding the State Child Protection Amendment Bill 2025. The purpose of this hearing was to review the existing child protection legislation, enhance it, and address new challenges related to children’s rights and welfare in the state. According to a statement from Murtala Adamu Diri, the session saw participation from a diverse group of stakeholders. These included lawmakers, legal professionals, various child advocacy and civil society groups, the Council of Ulama, the Hisbah Board, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and officials from the Ministries of Religious Affairs and Women Affairs and Social Development. Participants offered several suggestions to ensure that the proposed amendments will effectively protect the rights and well-being of children throughout Kebbi State. The high attendance demonstrated increasing public interest and dedication to reinforcing the legal structures designed to protect children statewide.
