Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi are among the opposition leaders who have allegedly outwitted President Bola Tinubu’s administration with their political maneuvers ahead of the 2027 elections, according to Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, or ADC.
Speaking on Friday’s Sunrise program on Channels Television, Momodu asserted that the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC, was uneasy about the prospect of fierce opposition and was working to crush competition by making sure Tinubu was a unanimous choice in 2027.
Citing comparable instances in the Labour Party, PDP, and NNPP, Momodu claimed that government agents have been attempting to undermine political parties by dividing them into factions.
He asserts that the ADC conveners foresaw such actions and took proactive measures to protect the party’s organization.
Momodu pointed out that before revealing the ADC, the opposition purposefully misled the ruling party by giving the appearance that they were siding with the Social Democratic Party, SDP, or another up-and-coming platform.
He praised the ADC leaders’ experience and tenacity, stating that they were “many steps ahead” of attempts to undermine the coalition.”The ruling party is clearly nervous,” he said. In particular, the ruling party does not want fierce competition in 2027. They prefer a single candidate and are not overly concerned with the governors or the others. One man, the president and commander in chief, would be supported by all political parties if at all possible. Therefore, when the news broke yesterday that these men are headed to court, I wasn’t shocked. We are all aware of what is happening. Going to court if you feel wronged is perfectly acceptable.
