Governor Ademola Adeleke has refuted claims by the All Progressives Congress, APC, that he is protecting the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Adekunle Omoyele, who is reportedly wanted by the police over the killing of residents in Akinlalu community by Amotekun operatives.
The APC, through its spokesperson Kola Olabisi, accused the governor of shielding Omoyele from arrest, calling the alleged act irresponsible and unpatriotic. The party urged Adeleke to prove his commitment to justice by helping the police apprehend the commander and ensure a thorough investigation into the killings.
Responding through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke dismissed the allegations as false and politically motivated, describing them as an attempt by a desperate opposition to remain relevant.
He emphasized that his administration has confidence in the ongoing police investigation and would not interfere in the process. Adeleke cautioned against politicizing the incident, urging everyone to allow due process to prevail.
He further accused the Osun APC of spreading misinformation, stating that the party has become a consistent source of fake news.
