Amnesty International has strongly denounced a recent “horrific” attack on worshippers at a mosque in Na’alma village, Katsina State, which occurred during dawn prayers. The human rights group stated that the death toll is currently unknown, with several residents missing after attempting to flee and others hospitalized with serious injuries.
Amnesty pointed out that this assault happened less than two months after a similar attack killed over 50 people in a different mosque in Unguwan Mantau, also within the Malumfashi Local Government Area. The organization sharply criticized both federal and state governments for merely condemning these incidents without implementing genuine protective measures or ensuring justice. They warned that the consistent failure to prosecute those responsible is only fueling impunity, leaving rural communities in perpetual fear of future attacks.
