The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youths Council has publicly rejected the rumored defection of Governor Agbu Kefas to the APC, stating that such a move is “unacceptable” and goes against the party’s core values.
In a Thursday statement from Jalingo, the council reported that youth leaders across the state met and unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on the Governor. They insist his political beliefs and leadership approach are not consistent with the APC’s progressive principles.
“We, the youths of APC in Taraba State, unanimously reject the defection of Governor Agbu Kefas into our great party,” stated Coordinator Bilyamin Musa. “He is not a progressive leader, and APC is not a party for his caliber. Our stand is clear: we are not in support of his coming.”
The group accused Governor Kefas of lacking vision and competence, claiming his two years in office have failed to bring meaningful development to Taraba State.
The Youth Council called on the national APC leadership to heed their concerns and ensure the party remains a platform only for disciplined, visionary, and development-focused leaders. They concluded by reaffirming their loyalty to the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, promising to continue strengthening the party’s support base in the state.
So, the Governor is getting a strong “not welcome” message from the youth wing of his potential new party.
