An important meeting of the Labour Party’s (LP) National Executive Committee (NEC), led by Julius Abure, is currently taking place in the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The National Secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk, as well as the party chairmen and secretaries from each of the 36 states in the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, are supporting the meeting, which Abure is chairing. The meeting’s precise agenda has not yet been made public, but Vanguard has learned that the main subjects of discussion would include important concerns like the approaching Anambra State governorship election and the party’s overall situation.
In a similar event, Abia State Governor Alex Otti has made a firm declaration stating that he has no plans to switch political parties and leave the Labour Party (LP).
Governor Otti’s comments follow a number of rumors that he would defect, according to Naija News. The governor firmly declared that the LP had been “rescued” from former chairman Julius Abure in an interview with Arise News.
Abure’s continuous claim to the party chairmanship was contested by Governor Otti, a pivotal figure in the LP’s recent revitalization.
He referenced the Supreme Court judgment that, according to Otti, had made it clear that Abure no longer held that position.
Otti said, “Today, we have fought and retrieved Labour. “I said I will send you the Supreme Court judgment. When you finish reading it, you will know that Abure is just masturbating. He is out. You can declare yourself President of Nigeria. Does that mean you are now the president?”
