Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has attributed the historic victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Chikun Federal Constituency to his administration’s inclusive and merit-based governance. The constituency, which has long been regarded as a PDP stronghold, had never cast an APC ballot since Nigeria returned to democracy in 1999, the governor said in an interview with TVC Television. I would like to draw attention to the fact that the APC has never won an election in the Chikun Federal Constituency. The PDP has consistently won elections since 1999. The Labour Party won that federal seat just two years ago. The member, however, passed away. For that reason, we held a bye-election, and the APC received 70% of the vote this time, he said.Governor Sani stressed that his administration’s style of governance was the reason for the victory. “And I can tell you that our approach to governance is the sole reason you are witnessing these changes in Kaduna,” he said. Recall that the PDP candidate received 11,491 votes, while the APC candidate received 34,580, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The governor also voiced disapproval of political discussions that prioritize ethnic or religious groups over the caliber of leadership.
