Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, has addressed allegations that he is a dishonest politician.
Obi claimed that by the time he was leaving office as governor of Anambra, he would have easily stolen the N36 billion and an additional $150 million that he had left behind.
This was said by the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the general election of 2023 during an appearance on Sunday Politics on Channels Television on Sunday.
Obi demanded a thorough examination of the indicting document when questioned about his name being in the Panama Papers.
The former governor vowed to combat corruption head-on if elected president of Nigeria, insisting that a thief never leaves behind what he was intended to steal.
According to the DAILY POST, although Peter Obi’s supporters have a great deal of faith in him, other people do not believe he is the best person to govern the nation.
“Everything I’ve said as governor when I came campaigning to be the governor of Anambra State, I said, I will fix education, I will make sure I improve in education,” Obi responded when asked if he could be trusted with the authority to give the people hope again.
“Children will never be sent to school without instruction. I can demonstrate to you how education has improved.
“It improved. We’re going to address the health issue, I said. We didn’t have a single nursing school. We had more nursing schools by the time I left the government.
“I discussed rural roads.
“I discussed corruption, both at the federal and state levels. Your wife won’t steal if you don’t, and your family won’t either [then you set the standard as the leader].
“I would have stolen $I50 million and 36 billion naira that I left behind.” Therefore, I advise you to look into the Panama Papers thoroughly when they discuss them.
