The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, stated that President Tinubu’s government is actively working to secure the lives of all Nigerians, including both Christians and Muslims.
He acknowledged the country’s security challenges but refuted claims that only the North or only Christians are being targeted, emphasizing that Boko Haram extremists attack both mosques and churches.
Idris insisted that Nigeria is a religiously tolerant nation. He argued that promoting the narrative of a Christian-versus-Muslim conflict is false, divisive, and serves the goals of the criminal elements and extremists. He concluded by noting that the Nigerian Constitution guarantees religious freedom and that the government itself operates with harmonious Christian and Muslim leadership.
