The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement to correct the record, emphasizing that Senator Nenadi Esther Usman and Bashir Saidu are leaders of a broader political coalition, not the ADC party itself.
ADC Chairman Elder Patrick D. Ambut clarified that the appointments were made by the “Coalition Partners,” an alliance of various parties and groups (including the Labour Party) committed to challenging the APC government. These roles were created simply to coordinate the opposition’s activities and unify its leaders in Kaduna State. Ambut stressed that the ADC’s own elected leadership remains “intact and unaffected” by these coalition appointments, which are entirely “separate and distinct.” The clarification was necessary to dispel “false narrative[s]” suggesting that Senator Usman, who is the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, had defected to the ADC.
