Mark Goldbridge, a football pundit, has expressed his disagreement with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand’s endorsement of Lamine Yamal for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
This year, Ferdinand had supported Yamal for the Ballon d’Or victory.
After the Champions League semi-final first leg ended in a 3-3 draw between Barcelona and Inter Milan on Wednesday, the Englishman spoke.
Goldbridge, however, did not see eye to eye with Ferdinand. He maintained that this year’s Ballon d’Or should go to the likes of Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele rather than Yamal.
He stated that both players have outperformed the Spanish winger this season.
In a conversation with X, Goldbridge remarked: “Yamal is sensational, but the way he’s covered by the mainstream media and the idea of giving him the Ballon d’Or are such insults.
„[Barca-Kollege] Raphinha hat eine riesige Saison und auch [Ousmane] Dembele bei PSG läuft es hervorragend.“ Fewer sensationalist views on Rio and more realistic analyses, please.
