Bayelsa’s Governor, Douye Diri, has switched his political allegiance from the PDP to the APC.

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has reportedly resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a report by Arise TV. He is said to be defecting along with 23 members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. This move follows a similar switch by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah just a day prior. While specific details are still limited, it is anticipated that Governor Diri and the legislators will formally announce their defection to the APC soon. This development aligns with a recent trend of federal and state lawmakers moving from opposition parties to the APC in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
