Peter Falola, sometimes known as “Black Jesus,” is a suspected cultist who was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly committing assault, arson, and vandalism against property worth over N1.4 million in the Agbado region of the state.
Falola was arrested on January 20, according to a statement released by the command spokeswoman, Omolola Odutola, to PUNCH Online on Tuesday.
On January 15, 2025, at approximately 9:00 am, the suspect allegedly broke into the house of Oladipupo Adeniran, who lived at Ifelodun Street, Ago Ajeri, Agbado, and threatened to set the house on fire.
Although the reason for the suspect’s break-in at the victim’s house has not yet been disclosed by the police, it is said that the suspect hit Adeniran on the head with an empty beer bottle.
The command revealed that “Black Jesus” allegedly set fire to the victim’s flat, causing damages estimated at over N1.4 million, as neighbors and locals hurried Adeniran to the hospital for medical assistance.
“He entered the suspect’s residence while threatening violence,” Odutola said. In a fit of rage, he allegedly smashed a bottle on the suspect’s head and then repeatedly stabbed him.
A 6 kg gas cylinder, a ceiling fan, an Itel Android phone, a pair of chairs, eight aluminum windows, and other objects worth over N1.4 million were allegedly destroyed when Falola allegedly lit the victim’s clothing on fire. The ceilings of the bedroom and living room were also in ruins.
Officers quickly detained the culprit after receiving the report that was submitted to the Agbado Police Station on January 20, 2025. After visiting the crime scene, investigators are currently questioning Falola.
The suspect would be moved to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Abeokuta for a comprehensive investigation, Odutola continued.
