On Friday, Agan women protested the growing insecurity in their community by taking to the streets of Makurdi, the capital of Benue State.
Carrying leaves and singing songs, the irate ladies blocked the federal highway close to the Agan toll gate.
Local resident Torkwase told DAILY POST that the peaceful protest is still going on.
In a phone call with DAILY POST, she stated, “The protest is still going on at Agan ward, near the toll gate.”
It simply has to do with the general lack of security in the area. We need the government to move quickly because we are exhausted.
According to her, security personnel are already present and the demonstration is now peaceful.
The demonstration takes place while locals in the state and community continue to experience violence and attacks.
