During the 17th Headies Awards on Sunday night, Nollywood actress Annie, who is the estranged wife of Nigerian music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, officially confirmed their divorce.
As reported by Naija News, the actress, who had been silent on the matter for several months, finally spoke up while co-presenting the award for Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year
She shared the spotlight with Farooq Oreagba, who is renowned as the “King of Steeze” after his legendary performance at the 2024 Ojude Oba festival.
During her self-introduction, Annie hesitated on her name before making a swift correction, which clearly indicated her new status.
“Annie Idi… Oh! Sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” she declared, drawing enthusiastic cheers and applause from the crowd
This public affirmation follows earlier indications this year, as Annie reappeared on social media in March—approximately two months after 2Baba declared their separation—signing off with her full name, Annie Uwana Macaulay, and notably leaving out the surname Idibia.
In January 2025, the former couple, who have two children together, officially ended their marriage after 2Baba announced their separation.
2Baba has moved on since the separation and proposed to Natasha Osawaru, an Edo State lawmaker. He has introduced her to his family and community in Benue State, leading to widespread speculation about a possible wedding.
