Chief Bode George, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has come under fire from Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a former national publicity secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), for suggesting that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar cannot serve the PDP and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) simultaneously.
Eze also addressed claims that Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, had left the PDP.
Former PDP Deputy National Chairman George had criticized Atiku and a number of other party leaders in the opposition coalition, saying the former vice president couldn’t be bothered about two things at once.
“What Atiku and others did is collapsing the party into the alternative which is the ADC which seems to be a feasible platform for the project of rescuing Nigeria from the dungeon that Tinubu and his co-travellers have plunged Nigeria into,” Eze said in a statement on Tuesday, dismissing George’s implication.
“In order to rescue Nigeria from the mess that Wike and Tinubu have thrown our beloved nation into, I am expecting Chief Bode George and others to abandon the two barefaced and chameleon strategies and join ADC.”
As a founding member of the PDP and the party’s brains, the APC chieftain claims that Atiku would never have left the party for any reason.
“So to me, what Atiku and other key elders of the party have resolved to do is to collapse the mainstream of PDP into a more viable platform through which the national project of uprooting the current evil government can be achieved still retaining their membership of PDP,” he said.
In the statement, Eze, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), clarified that the only prominent coalition member to officially leave the main opposition party is former Senate President David Mark.
He claims that the former vice president and every other member of the Coalition from the PDP are still members of the party.
Eze claimed that Atiku’s collapse of the PDP into the alliance was solely done for the benefit of the country.
