In order to improve service delivery to the public, the Kwara State Government has begun building new offices to house more civil and public personnel.
The news comes just a few days after Olusola Adewara, the spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the main opposition party, expressed alarm over the state government’s plans to construct a new Government House in the state capital.
The state capital of Ilorin hosted the groundbreaking ceremony for the new headquarters.
Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Dr. Segun Ogunsola stated at the brief event that the proposed building is located next to the Deputy Governor’s Office at Government House, Ilorin.
Additionally, the commissioner rejected as untrue rumors that the government was building a second Government House.
According to Ogunsola, the new offices’ construction is consistent with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s intention to give government employees a suitable and sufficient workspace.
He revealed that among other amenities, the one-story project will include a conference room and many office spaces.
According to Ogunsola, the ministry will make sure that the project is properly monitored in order to guarantee that a high-quality job is completed within the allotted year, and the contractor will be asked to adhere to the specifications.
In order to increase the democratic dividends for citizens in both rural and urban areas, he continued, “these new offices will fill existing gaps and meet the current trend of enhancing the smooth running of the state.”
