Concerns About Kidnapping: King Sunny Ade’s Family Provides Updates on Musicians’ Whereabouts

The family of well-known juju performer Sunday Adegeye, also called King Sunny Ade, has denied rumors that he was abducted and that his whereabouts are unknown.
According to Naija News, Damilola Adeniyi, the singer’s daughter, expressed worries about her father’s location and health in a series of Instagram posts on Monday, April 28, 2025.

Declaring that the singer might be under undue influence and no longer fully in charge of his finances, Damilola expressed her anxiety and implied that someone close to her father, including his manager, might be involved.

She also urged the appropriate authorities to step in and look into the matter.

However, Dayo Adegeye, Sunny Ade’s manager and one of his children, clarified in a statement on Tuesday that his father is okay.

Dayo characterized the rumors of Sunny Ade’s abduction as a deliberate effort to damage the renowned musician’s reputation.

“We want the public to know that King Sunny Ade is safe and sound,” he stated.

The kidnapping rumor is untrue, and we are acting appropriately to resolve the matter and find the people disseminating this misleading information.

The King of World Beats, King Sunny Ade, is not abducted or kidnapped by anyone.

“The Adegeye family and King Sunny Ade’s team are working diligently to put an end to the rumour and protect his reputation.

“The public can rest assured that King Sunny Ade is in good health and spirits, and his focus remains on his music and legacy.”
