The All Progressives Congress has “conquered” the nation, according to former lawmaker Dino Melaye, who has declared that its tenure in office is over. The APC has been in control since 2015, when it won both the presidential election and a majority in the National Assembly, according to BASEMEDIA.
In particular, Melaye declared that the APC would lose the general elections in 2027, claiming that Nigerians are now better equipped to defend their votes.
He made his remarks on Monday in an interview with Prime Time on Arise Television.
Melaye declared that he was now a proud member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which he said would overthrow President Bola Tinubu, rather than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
While the ruling party “came, saw, and conquered” in the past, he said, the 2027 elections would yield a different result. He accused the APC of misgovernance and maladministration.
Melaye emphasized that the next election will not be “a tea party as usual” and that the opposition is more prepared.
“Misgovernance and maladministration are problems out there,” he said. I believe we should talk about those issues. The PDP is a political organization. I’m no longer a member.
“I’m honored to be an ADC member. And on May 29, by God’s grace, that is the party that will depose Tinubu and drive the APC out of the villa.
However, I would like to reassure you that the 2027 election will not proceed in that manner. It is wiser to be Nigerian. I want to assure you that we will defend our votes this time, and we are more prepared than the Boy Scouts were.
I’m telling you that it won’t be a tea party as usual, but let time and season decide that.
