In an effort to put Nigeria on track to become a trillion-dollar economy, Women’s World Banking (WWB) and the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI) organized a high-level stakeholders’ workshop in Abuja to promote women’s digital financial inclusion.
Participants in the workshop included representatives from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), the Bank of Industry (BOI), Deposit Money Banks, Microfinance Institutions, FinTechs, and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs).
Discussions centered on reaching the national goal of 95% financial inclusion and reducing the 9% gender gap in financial services access in Nigeria. Participants concurred that increasing household welfare, lowering poverty, and promoting sustainable economic growth all depended on giving women access to digital money.
