Nigerian media figure Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, widely recognized as Do2dtun, has criticized reality star Whitemoney for his tribal comments during the 17th Headies Awards ceremony.
According to Naija News, Whitemoney stated during his acceptance speech for the Afrobeats Single Of the Year award on behalf of Flavour that he was representing the Igbos while on stage. The ceremony took place at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos on Sunday.
However, the statement upset some viewers, who accused him of tribalism for limiting Flavour’s fan base to the Igbo community.
Via his 𝕏 account, Do2dtun criticized Whitemoney for introducing tribal sentiment into the award ceremony, emphasizing that Flavour’s award was meant for all Afrobeats fans.
He wrote, “’On behalf of the Igbos.’ I am sorry, that was so unnecessary. It didn’t require that kind of storytelling. It’s a prize secured by an African; for Afrobeat and a Nigerian. #headies2025
In the meantime, Do2dtun has recently commented on the conflict between street pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, and his more experienced counterpart Akorede Babatunde Okunola, who goes by Saheed Osupa.
reports that Portable mocked the veteran Fuji musician for removing his song from streaming platforms due to copyright infringement.
After the Fuji singer and his distributors filed complaints, Portable’s song was taken down from Spotify and Apple Music due to its use of a line from Osupa’s song.
In a viral online video, Portable expressed anger over Osupa’s actions and criticized the senior colleague for reporting his song.
The ‘Zazu Zeh’ crooner criticized Osupa for being big yet ineffective and for failing to support his career, unlike Pasuma.
Do2dtun reacted to the outburst in a post on 𝕏, stating that Saheed Osupa would beat Portable from bus stop to bus stop over the insult.
