Dr. Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, established the Enugu State Ease-of-Doing-Business Council on the previous day. He stated that this initiative aligned with his campaign commitment to transform the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion by making it the top choice for business, investment, tourism, and residence.
While inaugurating the 25-man council at Enugu’s Government House, Mbah, also the council’s chairman, emphasized that investors are not Father Christmas and will naturally gravitate towards places with a conducive environment and higher returns on investment (RoI).
As you may remember, one of the first things I did after being sworn in was to sign Executive Order 005, which addresses Ease-of-Doing-Business. It tells us in large part that we cannot realize the ambitious economic growth plan we have set for ourselves without attracting private investments.
Dr. Eric Chime, the Second Deputy President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, representing the president and the organization, characterized the council as a significant advancement for Enugu State under Governor Mbah’s leadership.
