Igbo Vote: PDP Chieftain Nwali Says Umahi Is Tricking Tinubu

According to Nwafor Richard Nwali, a former media director for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South East, President Bola Tinubu will not be able to win over Ndi Igbo voters in the 2027 election.
According to Nwali, the claim made by Works Minister David Umahi that South East governors are attempting to secure President Tinubu’s reelection is false.

In an upcoming documentary about Tinubu’s two years in office, which will be produced by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the former governor of Ebonyi State revealed that South East governors are organizing an event to support Tinubu.

Regardless of their party affiliation, all of the South East’s governors are collaborating with the president. To formally endorse the president for the 2027 elections, we are even organizing a meeting that will bring together all of the South-East’s leaders. We want our projects finished, the nation’s cohesiveness reinforced, and Ndi Igbo properly integrated,” Umahi stated.

Nwali, the Ebonyi State PDP Publicity Secretary, called Umahi’s statement “baseless” in an interview with Basemedia News on Wednesday.

According to him, the governor of South East for the PDP cannot support Tinubu’s reelection. He declared, “David Umahi’s claims are unfounded, unsupported, and without merit.”

He recalled that Umahi had earlier said Ndi Igbo would vote for Tinubu, adding that the former Ebonyi Governor prefers to deceive the President on his chances in 2027.

“For clarity, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (President of Nigeria) failed woefully in all ramifications, especially on security, infrastructure, education and manpower development.

“I doubt he (Umahi) has any information; if you can remember, David Nweze Umahi has made countless allegations that he could not prove, in a bid to deceive Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his personal gains. Umahi is motivated by personal gains, not for the interest of Ndi Igbo,” he stated.

The member of the South East PDP’s Contact and Mobilization Committee assured Ndi Igbo that PDP would come back stronger in 2027 to protect their interests.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage Ndi Igbo to continue believing that the PDP is the only reliable opposition. As the zone’s party leaders, we shall use all legal measures to bolster and reestablish the PDP in preparation for the national election in 2027.

The Ebonyi PDP spokesperson went on to say, “We will provide people-oriented policies and programs to Nigerians and rescue the current mess that the ruling All Progressives Congress has created.”
