In Bama Local Government Area, Borno State, troops from Operation Hadin Kai arrested a suspected suicide bomber, Abubakar Mustapha, on December 29. According to Lt. Col. Sani Uba, the suspect was apprehended at the Banki Central Mosque while in possession of primed components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Mustapha is currently being interrogated to identify his associates and sponsors within regional terrorist networks. This arrest follows a recent suicide bombing in Maiduguri that resulted in several casualties. The military has reaffirmed its dedication to protecting the North East and encouraged citizens to continue sharing intelligence to support counter-terrorism operations.
