INEC launches a digital site and validates 129 party applications.

Associations have submitted 129 applications to register as political parties, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC.

The update was given at Thursday’s regular weekly meeting of the Commission.

Seven additional applications were submitted in the last week, increasing the total to the present number, according to a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

β€œAt its regular weekly meeting held today, Thursday 10th July 2025, the Commission received further updates on additional requests from associations seeking registration as political parties.

Seven more applications have been received since last week, increasing the total to 129. INEC said, “All of the requests are being processed.

Additionally, the Commission declared the opening of a new online platform for political party registration.

The platform, a component of the Party Financial Reporting and Auditing System, is intended to make the registration procedure more straightforward and efficient.

Final testing of the portal should be finished in the upcoming week, according to Olumekun.
