Insecurity: Governor Alia says, “We are ready to welcome Tinubu to Benue.”

Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the governor of Benue State, has stated that he is prepared to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu when he visits the state on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

Speaking through his chief press secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia characterized the President’s visit as a heartfelt show of support for the people of Benue, particularly in light of the recent slaughter of dozens of residents in the Guma Local Government Area’s Yelewata community by suspected armed herdsmen.

The governor claims that the visit shows President Tinubu’s empathy and resolve to address the growing security issues that farming communities around the state are facing.

He said, “It depicts the President’s concern and readiness to take a bold step in the face of worsening insecurity threatening the peace, dignity, and existence of our farming communities.

“We are fully prepared to receive Mr. President. The visit represents not only a moment of national empathy, but a rare opportunity to directly interface with the Presidency on urgent security interventions needed to end the persistent killings and displacement of our people.

“If there is any state in the country that needs absolute peace, that state is Benue.

“This is because Benue, the ‘Food Basket of the Nation,’ deserves justice, peace, and safety.”

“The visit is a unique chance to directly engage with the Presidency on critical security measures required to put an end to the ongoing killings and displacement of our people, as well as a show of national empathy,” Alia stated.
