The National Publicity Secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, commented on the difficulty faced by Nigerian armed forces in apprehending bandits and terrorists involved in the abduction of citizens.
During a Tuesday interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, Morka responded to the prevalent national security crisis involving the kidnapping of various individuals, including women and children.
He stated that since perpetrators retreat into the woods, it is understandable that the military finds it hard to simply capture them, noting he is not a law enforcement expert.
Morka suggested that the ongoing security operations should not be heavily discussed by the public. He explained that when successes occur, such as arrests, they are often not immediately shared with the media.
He clarified that individuals detained under these circumstances must be processed, identified, and questioned, which can be time-consuming, sometimes taking weeks for results even with typical criminals. Therefore, he urged the public to be patient.
The APC official concluded on a positive note, mentioning that some kidnap victims are successfully being rescued, and affirmed that the President has directed security agencies to ensure the recovery of everyone trapped in this cycle of crime.
