Ismail Makarfi, the leader of the Kaduna APC, leaves the party

Former Kaduna State Commissioner for Finance and well-known member of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Ismail Aliyu Makarfi, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress, or APC.

In a letter to the APC ward chairman in Makarfi Local Government Area, Makarfi, who was instrumental in the party’s victory in the general elections of 2023, announced his resignation.

He did not give a particular explanation for his departure, but political analysts speculate that it might have something to do with the current wave of realignments and defections leading up to the 2027 elections.

In the short letter, he indicated a cordial departure from the ruling party by writing, “I remain grateful for the experiences and relationships I have built within the party.”

In Kaduna State, where he held a number of important roles and is credited with helping to establish President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, his resignation is regarded as a major political development.
