Following the recent issue surrounding Sheikh Abubakar Lawan Triumph’s preaching, which has sparked intense discussions and worries among some groups, the Kano State Police Command has advised residents to maintain public peace and order.
A press release sent to reporters and signed by the command’s spokesperson includes the call.
According to the statement, in order to resolve the matter, the Command had invited the Sheikh to visit its office and had started talking with pertinent parties.
“In response to the situation, on July 10, 2025, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, after inviting the Sheikh, has started discussions with relevant stakeholders, including government officials, religious leaders, and community representatives, to address the concerns and ensure that necessary measures are put in place to prevent any potential escalation,” the statement said.
Therefore, the Command exhorts all residents to maintain composure and use restraint, refraining from taking any acts that would make the situation worse.
“In exercising our freedom of expression and worship, among other things, it is crucial to respect the rights and beliefs of others and to stay within the bounds of the laws and regulations that govern our society.”
Therefore, we advise anyone with valid grievances or concerns to direct them to the proper authorities instead of using activities that can result in violations or divisive speech on social media.
The Command restated its dedication to preserving the state’s peace and order while defending the values of equity, justice, and respect for every individual, irrespective of their origin or affiliation.
