Keyamo: Establishment of a unified African air transport market is sluggish

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has urged the Banjul Accord Group of States to take swift action toward realizing a Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).

The disclosure was made by Keyamo in Abuja on Monday during the 18th Opening Plenary of the Banjul Accord Group

He conveyed that the implementation of the SAATM has not been swift in yielding the expected outcomes of enhancing connectivity across Africa.
that SAATM is among the initiatives of the African Union aimed at establishing a unified air transport market across Africa.
As of last year, 38 of the 55 African nations have committed to the SAATM, which was created in January 2018 as a means to liberalise air transport across Africa and boost aviation’s contribution to these countries’ gross domestic product (GDP).
