After asserting that he became wealthy “by luck,” Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings and the creator of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, provoked criticism.
In a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Elumelu clarified that wealth might occasionally come from luck rather than hard effort, intelligence, or physical health.
Despite putting in a lot of effort over the years in a number of corporate roles, the well-known banker and economist ascribed his wealth to good fortune.
The billionaire investor advised ambitious business owners to persevere in the face of difficulties, pointing out that success is not without difficulties.
He disclosed that his accomplishments throughout the years were largely due to his ability to stay focused and have a strong work ethic.
“Luck has brought me here. Sometimes being the best in your class, the fittest, or the most enthusiastic doesn’t translate into success. You need luck sometimes, and I am a result of it,” he remarked.
His assertion has sparked comments, with many questioning why the banker who has worked so hard to rise would credit luck for his achievements.
