Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu has hailed his players for their brilliant display in the victory over Tunisia.
Nigeria defeated the North Africans 3-0 in the opening Group B fixture at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday night.
The nine-time champions dominated the game from the start, and got their goals through Asisat Oshoala, Omorinsola Babajide, and Chiwendu Ihezuo
If not for the Super Falcons’ carelessness in front of goal, the score line may have been more pronounced.
According to Madugu, the team’s ultimate objective was to win to begin the competition.
Every time you decide to go out for a game, it feels amazing. For you, winning is the ultimate goal. And it goes without saying that we are pleased that the team prevailed,” he remarked following the match.
In the other group match on Sunday, Algeria won 1-0 over Botswana.
Despite being on goal differential, the Super Falcons lead Group A with three points.
On Wednesday, they will play their second match against Botswana at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
