Medvedev Takes First Place in More Than Two Years

Daniel Medvedev ends title drought with Almaty win.

In the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Almaty on Sunday, Daniil Medvedev defeated Frenchman Corentin Moutet 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 to win his first championship in two years.

Medvedev, currently ranked 14th in the world, has lost six finals since his victory in Rome in May 2023, including the US Open and the Australian Open in January of the same year.

He was eliminated in the first round in Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and Flushing Meadow this year after losing in the second round in Melbourne.

Medvedev responded to training with new trainers Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke after the US Open by making it to the Beijing and Shanghai semifinals.
