Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, has stated that he is unsure if he will play in the 2026 World Cup.
Messi has stated that when he is not at his best, he does not enjoy playing football.
After scoring twice in Thursday’s 3-0 victory against Venezuela, the 38-year-old admitted that it might be Messi’s final appearance in a home qualifying match.
As I’ve previously stated, I doubt I’ll participate in another World Cup.
“It’s reasonable to assume that I might not at my age,” Messi said to TyC Sports.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner says that his ability to play in the World Cup next year would depend on how fit he is.
“I’ll finish the season match by match, have preseason, and see how I feel in six months,” he stated.
