Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has revealed why his squad is still the only Premier League team participating in the Champions League.
After a goalless draw with Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night, Arsenal has moved to the Champions League semi-finals, where they will play Atletico Madrid.
Now, attention returns to the Premier League as Arsenal gets ready to play Manchester City on Sunday in a game that will have a big influence on this season’s title.
Because of their capacity to overcome the difficulties presented by a rigorous schedule, Arteta claimed that his team is the only English team still competing.
After the game, which saw yet another poor effort from Arsenal, Arteta told reporters, “This is why we are the only English team left in the competition; the league and its schedule take a toll on you, making it very challenging to achieve what we have accomplished.”
