Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, previous governors, current senators, members of the House of Representatives, traditional leaders, and other prominent figures are presently in Ibadan to observe the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland. As the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, is scheduled to receive his official staff and instruments today (Friday), according to the DAILY POST. The historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan is currently hosting the eventAlong with the Sultan, other notable people attending the event include former governors of Ogun State Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, as well as their Kano counterpart Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso. The traditional leaders of the major towns, cities, and villages in Yorubaland and other regions were not left out. Prominent among them are Oba Akeem Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo; Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo; Oba Afolabi Olaoye, the Soun of Ogbomoso; and Oba Munirudeen Lawal, the Timi of EdeAkin Alabi and Olamiju Alao-Akala of the House of Representatives, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli of Oyo South, Yunus Akintunde of Oyo Central, and Barrister Adebayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo State, are also present. The event also includes Ibadan’s indigenous population, represented by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), whose president-general is Barrister Sulaimon Ajewole. The coronation is also being watched by the Olubadan’s wives, relatives, and well-wishers.
