NFF cautions referees about inappropriate influence

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has issued a stern warning to referees and stakeholders across all tiers of domestic football.

The football body emphasised zero tolerance for match manipulation and unethical practices.

The NFF Refereeing Committee gave the warning in a statement signed by its secretary Mohammed Ameenu on Wednesday.

He conveyed serious worry regarding possible outside pressures designed to affect refereeing choices.

“A formidable monitoring committee has been established by the President and the General Secretary of the NFF, with members assigned to every match center,” the statement reads.

““All referees assigned to matches are instructed to uphold the principles of fairness, equity, and justice

Failure to comply carries severe consequences: officials guilty of misconduct may incur at least a 10-year ban from football and could be prosecuted by State Security Services for offenses related to match-fixing.

“Everyone has been warned in advance.”
