The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government in Exile has begun a new series of civil disobedience activities as a protest against the prolonged imprisonment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The group advocating for Biafra is currently urging residents to not participate in the Anambra governorship election on November 8, 2025.
Furthermore, BRGIE has also announced a three-day sit-at-home period in south-east Nigeria concerning the continuous detention of Kanu.
In a statement made on Wednesday by Ogechukwu Nkere, its acting Prime Minister, the organization said the stay-at-home action would occur on November 6, 7, and 8, 2025, respectively.
The DAILY POST news organization reports that the sit-at-home is believed to be an attempt to obstruct the Anambra governorship election.
BRGIE stated that Biafrans remain determined regarding their separation from Nigeria.
According to the activist for the pro-Biafra cause, this decision is based on the Nigerian security agency’s claimed denial of Nnamdi Kanu’s access to medical care and the imprisonment of its prime minister, Simon Ekpa, in Finland.
BRGIE praised Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, for officially naming Nigeria a ‘Country with Particular Concerns’ over alleged Christian mass killings.
It noted that the next necessary action is for the US under President Trump to place official penalties on the Nigerian government and its leaders.
“The Biafra Republic Government In Exile (BRGIE) wants to remind all Biafrans and Nigerian political figures acting in old Anambra that the acting Biafra government in the home territory of Biafra had ordered no elections in Nigeria in Anambra during the shutdown on November 6, 7, and 8, 2025.”
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who leads Biafra, was unlawfully taken in Kenya and died in the custody of the DSS because Biafrans had cast votes to leave Nigeria and collectively declared their independence on December 2, 2024, in Lahti, Finland.”
“Prime Minister Simon Ekpa has been jailed by Finland through the efforts of Igbo politicians who are collaborating with the Nigerian government and the European Commission.”
“Any attempt to carry out this illegal act in Biafran territory will face strong opposition from the Biafran people.”
“If the American legislators and President Donald Trump could place importance on the lives of our people in the southeastern section of Nigeria, the Biafra Territory, by responding to our requests in Washington, D.C., through the lobbying work of BRGIE, by finally applying sanctions and corrective measures against the Islamic state of Nigeria, yet our own corrupt politicians who work for their personal and family wealth show little concern, which means we must send them away to join the Boko Haram groups in Sambisa Forest.”
“A total of 50,048,916 Biafrans voted yes to exit Nigeria in our self-determination vote that finished in 2024, and 517 representatives officially approved the Declaration of Independence restoration of Biafra on December 2, 2024. We are progressing and not going backward. There will be no Nigerian elections in Anambra because this is Biafran land.”
“The Biafra Republic Government in Exile and the acting government in the Homeland hereby expresses thanks to President Donald Trump and the U.S. lawmakers for labeling Nigeria as a country of particular concern.”

We have achieved our first official requirements in Washington, D.C., and the following step is to sanction and prohibit all politicians involved in the forced disappearances, large-scale killings, mass extermination, and also the abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
“Unlawfully taking Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cannot stop Biafra, and jailing Simon Ekpa cannot stop Biafra, as Nigeria can observe now that BRGIE is gaining greater force than before and the sky is our only limit for Biafra independence,” BRGIE said in the statement.
It should be noted that last week, Trump made a threat of potential military action against Nigeria over the alleged killing of Christians.
Nigeria’s organization for elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, has announced November 6, 2025, as the date for the Anambra governorship election.
