Ogun West’s Reasons for Not Producing Government Senate Leader in 50 Years

Opeyemi Bamidele, the leader of the Nigerian Senate, has blamed structural exclusion and internal political division for Ogun West Senatorial District’s inability to produce a governor since Ogun State was established.Today is the 50th anniversary of Ogun State’s creation in 1976. In contrast to Ogun Central and Ogun East, which have alternately held the state’s highest office, the Yewa-Awori region, which makes up Ogun West, has not produced a governor since then.
