Former Big Brother Naija contestants from different seasons have said that the show changed their lives and helped them advance in their careers.
In a recent sideline interview at reality show presenter Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s birthday celebration in Lagos, the ex-housemates discussed their individual experiences.
According to Ebuka, the show helped him realize his potential as a television personality.
“I became a TV presenter because of [BBNaija].” I had no intention of doing this. I wasn’t headed in that direction. My profession was law, and I was scheduled to practice somewhere today. However, when I entered the Big Brother house, I found that I have a speech problem. I wouldn’t have a television career today if it weren’t for BBNaija,” he said.
Actress Bisola Aiyeola acknowledged that Big Brother Naija accelerated her career, but she stated she believed she would succeed in the entertainment business even if she didn’t compete.
“The reality show took it like a gazillion steps faster to the top, but Big Brother Naija escalated the success that I knew I was going to have anyhow,” she remarked.
Similarly, actor and director Elozonam stated, “My brand was elevated by Big Brother Naija.” It increased awareness of my brand.
Mercy Eke, a previous reality show winner, claimed that Big Brother Naija altered her “whole existence.”

According to actor Gideon Okeke, he would have stayed in the ghetto if it weren’t for the reality show.
“You now know who I am because Big Brother Naija brought me out into the world.” I’d be in the ghetto else,” he remarked.
“BBNaija is an amazing platform; it showcases you to the world,” stated TV host KimOprah. You can only get better from there, to be honest.
“Big Brother gave me a platform and made millions of people know me,” stated podcaster Adekunle.
Laycon, a singer and another former winner, claimed that his music career took off after the reality show.
He said, “It took it [my career] off the roof.”
