Members of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, or NUJ, passed a resolution requiring the council’s leadership to stay with the power company in the wake of the ownership dispute between Ossiomo Power and its Chinese partner, CCETC, which caused customers to disconnect from the business.
According to BASEMEDIA, the resolution was approved by the members during an emergency Congress held in Benin City on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The Congress stated in a six-point statement that the union secretariat has been receiving electricity from the private power plant around-the-clock for the last three years.
However, the Edo State Government was urged by the congress to foster an atmosphere that would encourage more private investors to put money into the state.
The ongoing development projects throughout the state, including the reconstruction of the burned-out Oba Market and the Ramat Park Flyover, were praised by the Edo State government.
Additionally, it urged the flyover contractor to move quickly and complete the project on schedule.
