Truck overloading and traffic infractions are targeted by the FRSC in Zamfara.

In Zamfara State, the Federal Road Safety Corps, or FRSC, has started a special patrol to enforce the use of speed-limiting devices and crack down on truck drivers who drive recklessly. In a statement released Thursday in Gusau, Aliyu Isah, the Command’s Public Education Officer, stated that the decision was made in response to repeated instances of truck drivers traveling through the state speeding excessively, overloading, and loading passengers, animals, and goods together. Traffic offenders, such as those who drive unregistered vehicles, cover number plates, or fail to fix speed-limiting devices, would be arrested by the patrol teams, he explained.

Aliyu Ma’aji, the Sector Commander, warned that infractions could result in prosecution and urged drivers to work with FRSC officers.

In order to prevent accidents during the ember months, he emphasized the importance of drivers closely adhering to safety regulations, particularly along the Zamfara-Sokoto highway.
