Raducanu Leaves the Wuhan Open First Round Due to Illness

Before leaving her Wuhan Open first-round match against American Ann Li, British number one Emma Raducanu had her temperature and blood pressure measured. Raducanu trailed 6-1 4-1 in Chin, appearing exhausted and struggling with the hot and muggy weather. After losing by double break in the second set and retiring, the world number 30 called for the trainer. According to the WTA’s website, her dizziness led to her retirementDue to the extreme heat in Wuhan on Monday, all outdoor courts were closed for play. Raducanu shared a screen grab of her phone, which indicated that the city in China was 34 degrees Celsius.
