Representatives Start Investigating Seaport and Airport Concessions

The performance of concessionaires running federal airports and seaport terminals, as well as the advantages the federal government received from the concession agreements, are the subjects of an investigation launched by the House of Representatives. The investigation, which will span the years 2006 to 2025, will evaluate Nigeria’s air and maritime terminals’ adherence to safety regulations, revenue performance, operational effectiveness, and environmental governance. The Speaker of the House, Abbass Tajudeen, opened the ad hoc committee to look into and evaluate the concessions on Tuesday. He stated that the exercise was required to make sure Nigerians and the federal government get the most out of port and terminal operations.According to the Speaker, who was represented by Hon. Laori Kwamoti, the committee was established in accordance with the House’s constitutional oversight duty to assess the results of concession agreements the federal government has made over the years and ascertain the true benefits received by the nation.
