Outspoken Plateau State clergyman, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has faced the deletion of two popular social media accounts and has laid curses on those responsible, claiming the actions are related to his stance on alleged Christian genocide in Plateau State.
His original Facebook account, which had over 500,000 followers, was deleted over the weekend. The deletion followed warnings and threats he claimed to have received from individuals loyal to President Bola Tinubu over his assertion that there is Christian genocide in Plateau. After moving to a new Instagram account set up by American podcaster Ryan Miller, the page quickly gained over 4,500 followers in 24 hours before it was also shut down a few hours later, as reported by journalist Masara Kim Usman.
Rev. Dachomo laid curses on those who had a hand in deleting his accounts. He claimed that those who closed his accounts, along with scammers and fraudulent people (“Yahoo Boys”), are opening fake accounts in his name. He warned his followers against a flurry of over 10 pseudo Facebook accounts opened in his name (e.g., ‘Pastor Ezekiel Dachomo’, ‘The Real Dachomo’), some using his family’s pictures, stating that he is not on Facebook and these accounts are being used by scammers to defraud innocent Nigerians. He suggested that Boko Haram terrorists or others interested in denying the “genocide issue” may have paid large numbers of people to report his account to get it locked down
