Ibrahim Mahmood Sani, a civil society activist and public affairs analyst, has urged Nigerian troops and Chief of Defense Staff General Olufemi Oluyede to step up efforts to eradicate terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements operating in the country’s northern region.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Sani made the plea amid growing unrest in a number of northern Nigerian regions.
His comments come after the Chief of Defense Staff ordered troops to decisively put an end to banditry in the area during a recent operational visit to Zamfara State
Sani responded to the development by endorsing the military’s renewed resolve to take on insecurity. In the struggle against what he called a common enemy, he called on all Nigerians to support and support the armed forces.
He emphasized that bandits’ ongoing murders and atrocities must be stopped.
Leadership is not exercised from a distance, as demonstrated by the Chief of Defense Staff. Sani stated, “His presence in Zamfara, his interactions with troops, and his unambiguous directive that Nigeria must be made safe at all costs send a strong message that the era of hesitation is over.”Fighting banditry is a long-term endeavor.
