According to former Senate President Bukola Saraki, the PDP’s leaders are committed to turning the party into a potent opposition.
According to Saraki, PDP leaders are committed to strengthening the party so that it can prevail in the general election in 2027.
He said this in response to the results of the 100th meeting of the PDP’s National Executive Committee, or NEC.
Despite police officers initially invading its national secretariat, the PDP managed to hold its 100th NEC meeting Wednesday in Abuja.
Saraki, however, claimed that the way the NEC meeting was run disappointed pessimists.
The former Senate President said in a Facebook statement that the NEC meeting had rejected rumors that party members who chose not to leave wanted to dismantle it.
“It is good that we have let down the pessimists,” he stated.
“I hope that by the end of today’s meeting, we have refuted the misleading information that is being spread in some places that those of us who have stayed in the PDP are just planning the party’s demise rather than assembling a formidable opposition.
“The leaders who changed their stances to give peace a chance would have taken a different approach if this untrue narrative were accurate.
But we’re committed to building a powerful opposition party that can defeat the next general election and provide better services to our constituents. All we have to do is keep moving forward in this direction.
“I want to thank all of our leaders and the many members of this great party for their hard work once more.”
