Since taking office, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been accused by Senator Ireti Kingibe of making life tough for Abuja citizens.
Wike had not prioritized the needs of most inhabitants, according to Ireti.
In an interview with Channels Television, the senator made this claim.
Kingibe acknowledged that there are still road development projects underway, but he maintained that the majority of the population does not profit from the new facilities.
“Yes, he is constructing roads, but there is no public transportation here. Therefore, the roads do not help the majority of Abuja inhabitants,” she stated.
Kingibe also questioned the relevance of some of Wike’s development priorities, such as the International Conference Centre (ICC), amid rising insecurity in the territory and reports of unpaid salaries among workers at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
“The women who were sweeping the streets, they have done so through several ministers. Their situation was always protected because they were indigent women, widows.

“No one was consulted before the present minister arrived. In actuality, he did consult others. Despite their entreaties, he dismissed them all.
“He hasn’t put anything in their place. According to Kingibe, “we in the FCT have had a minister who came to what made life as difficult as possible,” he stated.
